New ATV trails (Goldona-Calvin-Winnfield)

Filed under: ATV Trails — Administrator @ 9:55 am

The festival is Saturday, September 2, 2006, in downtown Goldonna located on Hwy. 156. Activities begin at 10 a.m. with a parade.

The Labor Day Weekend festivities will include food, arts and crafts booths, and a parade. Entertainment will be available from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., including blue grass, gospel and country music. And special musical entertainment will be provided by Katie Floyd of Many, La.

There will be a children’s area that will include a dunking booth, face painting, cake walks, and juniper jumps. Wagon rides will also be available for the young, or just the young at heart.

One of the major activities of the day is the Louisiana Trails trail ride. The trail is a path of endless greenery, with hardwood and pine forests towering overhead. Horses, wagons, bicycles are welcome, or you can just bring your hiking shoes to explore the piney woods of Natchitoches Parish on the old Kansas City Southern Rails to Trails Corridor. The hike is 18 miles of historic sites, various wildlife and birds. The trail from Ashland to Goldonna will not permit motorized vehicles in the area.

The trail extending from Goldonna to Winnfield will be open to explorers with motorized vehicles. This challenging 18 mile trek will take you through the woods and old creek beds of the parish.

  1. Has anyone driven the ATV part of this trail?
I looked at the bridge at the winn parish line and I
would bypass that with my ATV by unloading at the river bridge.
