My late father, Pfc Eugene E. Sakos, from Bernardsville, N.J. had advanced infantry training at Camp Livingston in the summer and fall of 1945. WW-2 ended and he did go to Germany for a bit with the Army of Occupation near Munich after AIT. I remember him telling me of the Camp Livingston. He said it was very hot, having to make a “human chain” to save a few guys in the river while on manuvers, and he and a D.I got in a fist fight in front of everyone, and after putting the D.I. in his place, there were many witnesses saying the D.I. threw the first punch. He said off base, he almost got a tatoo, but didn’t like the looks of the person giving them. I have his company picture from there somewhere. -Christopher V. Sakos
